The Burgundian way of life, the rich culture, the traditional folk music and the beautiful natural landscapes: it is exactly this unique charm that lets South Limburg and the Austrian way of life go hand in hand.
Their love of this culture brought the four guys of Süd-Ost together to share the „volkstümlich“ sounds with everyone who loves atmosphere and good company. As a young and energetic band, they show how a new generation proudly carries the bond between both worlds in its heart.
Their home is, not for nothing, the most musical province of the Netherlands, a place where music sounds in the houses and lives in the heart.
The band
As a child, Jem went skiing in East Tyrol every year and heard the Steirische for the first time there. Later, on a hut tour in South Tyrol, the hut keeper’s son played the instrument in the evening. It impressed him so much that he wanted to learn it himself. He has been playing with great passion ever since.
As a child, Luuk spent many holidays in Austria and came into contact with the music traditions there early on. In South Limburg the Steirische is an essential part of carnival music. A few years ago he began learning the instrument himself, and he looks forward to the shared musical future with the band and the audience.
Even as a little boy, Stan loved the music from the Zillertal, which always had to be playing at his grandparents’. He has played guitar for about twelve years, taught himself piano, and has played the Styrian harmonica for about six years. With the band, his dream of playing this music live has come true. He hopes for many more great moments and performances with the group.
